Welcome to the Development Assessment Commission
The Development Assessment Commission (DAC) is an independent statutory body established under South Australia's Development Act 1993.
The DAC has a role:
- as an assessing and decision-making authority for certain types of development applications in South Australia (these are prescribed in the Development Act)
- in assessing and reporting on Crown development and public infrastructure applications (but the Minister for Urban Development and Planning is the decision-maker)
- in the initial stages of proposals being assessed under the Major Development provisions of the Development Act, and
- in providing advice to the Minister.
More on each of these can be found on the Role of the DAC page.
The DAC consists of seven Commissioners ('Members'), who are appointed by the Governor of South Australia. More on the DAC's Members and their appointment can be found in the Members section.
